Article: RIP Google Wave

In an article shared on Mashable today (RIP Google Wave ), Google Wave will no longer be developed by Google.

I remember when I first heard about Google Wave, received invites, and I wondered, how would this would engage me. Similiar to that of Google Buzz, two products that I don’t find on the “must have” applications. I will have to ponder for eternity, what was wave and what did I miss out on.

Article: Verizon to Start Selling iPhone in January [REPORT]

Only a matter of time before Verizon begins selling the iPhone. AT&T reduced the time commitment for a new phone upgrade, allowing them to lock in over 1M customers into a 2 year agreement at a higher cancellation penalty. While it seemed customer friendly, a very brilliant move by AT&T to get customers on the new contract, extended longer, and higher money if contract voided. Verizon to Start Selling iPhone in January [REPORT].

28 Days Later: Say Goodbye to the Netflix New Release Rental.

Netflix Envelopes

Do you have NetFlix? Enjoy Warner Brothers? Be ready for a 4 week delay for new Warner releases. Warner, in agreement with Netflix, will allow them to be shipped 4 weeks from DVD release. Once Netflix becomes dated, and no longer can offer fresh movies, I would think some will look at alternatives. I won’t buy DVDs, I have a cabinet full of them, and with On Demand, I can find something to watch with friends. With my Netfix, I reduced mine to 1 at a time, probably because I don’t have an App for managing my NetFlix, or I would remember to add New Releases when I see previews. Though I don’t watch too much TV, other then DVR.

Will Blockbuster follow NetFlix? Will RedBox increase sales, or be impacted? More to come, as always.

Article: Qualcomm Chip to Power Verizon iPhone [RUMOR]

Qualcomm Chip to Power Verizon iPhone [RUMOR] -

iPhone ImagesThanks to Mashable (yet again), more information on the iPhone rumor for Verizon, as the exclusivity agreement with AT&T sunsets. Have to wonder, what this will mean for the iPhone sales over the next 5 months, for people debating on changing? How many will change back? Was the increase in the early cancellation gearing up for higher end phone releases? Why the release in June, when AT&T typically releases, and Apple does OS upgrades. A lot of questions, more to come! Would Daniel have stayed with Verizon knowing this now? (ha)

The clarity of calls, and coverage of voice is superior on Verizon, but where I live, the data works.

Article: AT&T Website Stops Selling iPhone in New York City [REPORT]

AT&T Website Stops Selling iPhone in New York City [REPORT].

Solution to the bad coverage in NYC? Stop selling the device? The same phone that had very successful launches in the NYC area throughout the history of the phone. Interesting “Report” about the residents no longer being able to order.

While the coverage in areas is poor compared to Verizon, living in Atlanta, I have not had any challenge with fast download speeds, but a few dropped calls. I use the phone more for the data then the voice, it fits my needs.? The technology still trumps my clunky Blackberry Bold.

Article: FCC Critical of Verizon’s $350 Early Termination Fee (Mashable)

FCC Critical of Verizon’s $350 Early Termination Fee (Mashable)

The carrier that provides “a map for that” recently increased it’s ETF to $350 due to the cost of the devices and advertising of them. Any correlation of the ETF to advertising fees is insane. AT&T has brunted the iPhone cost for years, and did not implement such a high ETF. Will AT&T follow next? With AT&T not providing insurance on the iPhone, the ETF cost would creep up to the cost of replacing the device, ?either way, quite a hefty charge.

“She finds Verizon?s claims of justification ?unsatisfying? and a ?tenuous rationale for ETFs.? She especially takes issue with the fact that ETF prices are higher in part to cover advertising and store costs. We couldn?t agree with her more.

Clyburn also addresses another troubling matter, calling Verizon out for deceptively charging small fees to customers who launch the mobile browser.” Luckily I have not experienced any small fees from AT&T, ?my bill remains the same, month to month. Kudos to the FCC for scrutinizing Verizon early on.

I switched to AT&T in June, had a prorated ETF to pay after 10 years with Verizon. While the voice coverage (and customer service) at AT&T is not stellar, the phone has trumped what I had before with my EnV. I have not encountered one location where the phone did not work, even while bouncing around Europe.

RUMOR: Friendster to Be Sold for $100+ Million

RUMOR: Friendster to Be Sold for $100+ Million.

Shared on Mashable that Friendster is rumored to be up for sale for $100M by the end of the year, a $50M endeavor. It was pursued by Google at one time, and for the American society, begins to sunset like so many other sites. I can remember when I first joined friendster and how I could click on a person and see how I was connected to them, how time has changed!

Mashable: Photo Tagger for Facebook Now Available to the Public

Mashable IconAnother great update about a Facebook application thanks to Mashable. Check out the link on Mashable – Mashable Photo Tagger for Facebook Now Available Link .

If you have photo albums or people on your facebook that you tag throughout albums, this application in Facebook can do several of the tasks for you! I added the application to my facebook and it worked like a charm, better then Apple iPhoto Faces, which I find to be really lacking with the last few imports.

Check out the new application, it’s a great addition to Facebook.

New Mexico Soccer Player Elizabeth Lambert Video More Famous Than Balloon Boy.

I apparently have been snoozing on stories but I heard about this from someone on the plane the other day. I cannot believe the hair pulling, WOW! Ironically the video has trumped Balloon Boy (too bad for the crazy family) and the player is suspended for good.? Phew!
