Day 1 – Travel to Brussels, Exploring the city

DL 124 ATL to BRUI had hoped to have video uploaded but the lightning fast wifi at the hotel has 2+ hours for a 30MB video?!?! This blog post has taken 35 minutes for the pages to process, combined with the lack of ANY English stations, we are laughing!

We made it safely up on Uncle D on flight 124, ATL-BRU, 767-300ER. The flight was uneventful, crew was… crew, seemed ingenuined and not thrilled to be at work.

Brussels customs was ease to get through, my bag was the first one on the belt. We hopped into a taxi down to the Holiday Inn.

The Taxi was an adventure, we hopped on sidewalks, drove along curbs, it was a true adventure.

Arriving at the hotel, we were fortunate to be able to check in at 9:30am. Our room, next to the elevator on the 5th floor is a smoking room, with 2 beds. The 2 beds are connected to make one, not quite sure if they can be seperated, but the bed did eat Yolie’s Blackberry at some point.

While exploring the city early in the morning we jumped on a tour bus with 6 people total, up to Brugge, The city is a 2 to 3 hour drive from Brussels, with a guided tour, we were able to take in the scenery, and rest our eyes for a bit. We enjoyed lunch up there, and seeing the square setup for the holidays. We returned back to the hotel at 7:30pm. Pictures from Brugge is below.

While relaxing, I booked my ticket home for Christmas and changed my NOLA trip to be a few days shorter then originally scheduled for.

The weather has been rainy, except for when we wakled to dinner at 10pm tonight. The fries covered with beef stew is a great dish!

The people seem genuinely warm hearted, and all willing to give direction. Did I mention the hotel front desk is also the bar?!?!? Hopefully pictures to come. The video of just a “good night” is still uploading, the full video may take DAYS, unfortunately. From Brussels, goodnight all!
