We departed the house at 810, grabbed Lisa for her flight and made it to ATL by 9.
Lisa departed from concourse A, while we were E. After grabbing a quick breakfast wrap, we departed to our flights.
We left out of Concourse E, E35. While we were walking, with 30 minutes left until departure, we heard “final boarding call for 599 to DR”. We walked up, and were one of the last 10 to board.
Our upgrades cleared and we were in seats 4C and 4D on a 737-800. The backlog of traffic waiting to depart caused a 30 minute delay to depart on 9L. I managed to see a nw 744 boarding for the flights from ATL.
We departed Atlanta, enjoyed pasta (butternut squash raviolies) and the movie Hotel for Dogs. We landed, only to have massive rain around us.
We paid for our tourism card, made it through customs (and yes, they stamped in the middle of a full page, grrrr) and met up with our transportation.
We are in a van, the two of us heading up to La Romana. It is a two hour drive from the airport, allowing us to take in the sites.
More to come from the DR!
